Heat Pipe Solar Collector Manufacturer

iW Solar produces four heat pipe solar collector series in Taian City, Shandong Province — iW-HP, iW-H24, iW-HD and iW-HM — from 10 to 30 tubes per unit, rated 0.6 MPa and anti-freezing down to −35 °C. No water passes through the tubes, so one cracked tube never drains the system. B2B manufacturing and OEM & ODM since 2013.

What Is a Heat Pipe Solar Collector?

A heat pipe solar collector is an evacuated tube collector with a sealed copper heat pipe inside each tube instead of water. Sunlight heats the vacuum tube, an aluminium fin passes the heat to the heat pipe, the working fluid inside evaporates and rises to the condenser at the top, and there it releases its heat to the water or glycol flowing through the copper manifold. The condensed fluid returns to the bottom of the pipe by gravity and the cycle repeats.

Because no water ever enters the tube, a broken tube does not drain your system — you simply swap the tube and the rest keeps running. That one difference is why heat pipe collectors dominate commercial projects and markets with freezing winters.

iW Solar manufactures four heat pipe series — iW-HP, iW-H24, iW-HD and iW-HM — in sizes from 10 to 30 tubes per collector, and sizes the system to your project rather than asking you to fit ours.

How the Heat Pipe Works — in Five Steps

  1. Absorption: the twin-glass vacuum tube (Φ58 × 1,800 mm, high borosilicate glass 3.3) absorbs solar radiation and converts it into heat.
  2. Transfer: the aluminium fin conducts the heat from the tube wall to the copper heat pipe.
  3. Evaporation: the working fluid in the evaporator section of the heat pipe vaporises.
  4. Condensation: vapour rises to the condenser inside the manifold and releases its heat to the circulation medium.
  5. Return: the condensed fluid flows back down by gravity and the cycle repeats — one-way heat transfer with minimal loss.

Four Series: iW-HP, iW-H24, iW-HD and iW-HM

  • iW-HP (SC-HP) — the standard heat pipe solar collector. Φ14 mm heat pipes, polyurethane foam or rock wool insulation, 620–1,748 W output per collector.
  • iW-H24 (SC-H24) — a 24 mm condenser with a 24 × 70 mm heat exchange surface for higher transfer power, plus 55 mm rock wool insulation. Up to 2,098 W.
  • iW-HD (SC-HD) — circulation inlet and outlet at the bottom of the manifold, which simplifies piping in tight roof spaces.
  • iW-HM (SC-HM) — metal-glass sealed heat pipe tubes in Φ70 × 2,000 mm with a metal absorber: the largest aperture area and the highest efficiency of the range, with flow rates of 1.06–3 L/min.

Why Importers Choose Heat Pipe Tubes

  • No water in the tube. A cracked tube does not empty the system or stop it working — the tube swaps out in minutes without draining the loop.
  • Freeze resistance to −35 °C. The heat pipe design is inherently anti-freezing, so hard winters are not a problem.
  • One-way heat transfer. Heat moves from the absorber to the manifold, not back, which keeps night-time losses low.
  • High-pressure ready. Rated working pressure 0.6 MPa, with a copper manifold tested to 1 MPa.
  • Corrosion-resistant build. Aluminium alloy manifold casing and bracket, suited to flat and sloping roofs and coastal sites.
  • Individually replaceable tubes. Service is done tube by tube, so one failure never means replacing a whole collector.

Applications

Heat pipe solar collectors fit best where reliability in cold weather or continuous operation matters: residential pressurised systems, hotels and hospitals, schools and dormitories, industrial process hot water, and split systems where the tank is installed indoors. Where frost is rare and appearance or budget leads the decision, compare them with our flat plate solar collectors and non-pressure solar water heaters. • Tube quantity, manifold length and mounting angle configured for your market
  • Matched pressurised tanks and split systems for complete project supply
  • MOQ from 1 set for market testing, flexible quantities for bulk orders
  • 18–25 working days production after confirmation, reply within 12 hours

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if a vacuum tube breaks?

Nothing drains and the rest of the collector keeps working, because the water never flows through the tubes. You replace only the broken tube, which takes a few minutes.

Will a heat pipe solar collector work in freezing winters?

Yes. The design is anti-freezing down to −35 °C, and since there is no water inside the tubes there is nothing to freeze and burst.

Can I connect it to a pressurised tank?

Yes. The collector is rated for 0.6 MPa working pressure and the copper manifold is tested to 1 MPa, so it pairs with pressurised tanks, split systems and heat pumps.

How many tubes do I need?

It depends on daily hot water consumption and the solar radiation in your market. As a reference, our collectors deliver 620–2,098 W per unit. Send us your project details and we will size it for you at no cost.

How is quality controlled before shipment?

Every collector passes full-process inspection on the line, and the copper manifold is pressure tested to 1 MPa before assembly. Packing is inspected to AQL 2.5, and you are welcome to send a third-party inspector to our factory or nominate a lab for testing.

What is the minimum order and lead time?

MOQ starts from 1 set for market testing. Production takes 18–25 working days after order confirmation, and we reply to enquiries within 12 hours.
